TikTok Shop video specs that decide what buyers see.
By Antoni, founder · Updated
Spec sheets cover format, length and file size. This guide covers what they leave out: what TikTok's interface hides once the video plays.
- 130 px Shop Now button
- 484 px bottom stack
- 1080×1920 frame
Two kinds of spec
A TikTok Shop video has two sets of specs. File specs — format, resolution, length, size — decide whether TikTok accepts the upload. Frame specs decide what a buyer sees once it plays: where the Shop Now button, the 484 px bottom stack and the right rail sit on your picture.
These change; the source links to the live page. At 720×1280, multiply every position in this guide by two thirds.
Frame specs for a Shop video
On a 1080×1920 Spark Ad, the Shop Now button spans x 86–966 at y 1436–1566, inside a 484 px bottom stack. The button rail runs from x 940, the top 130 px hold the status bar and Sponsored tag, and 900×1400 is the box text should stay in.
- Canvas
- 9:16 at 1080×1920. Other shapes play with bars.
- Safe zone
- 900×1400, centred: x 90–990, y 260–1660.
- Shop Now button
- x 86–966, y 1436–1566 on Spark Ads.
- Bottom stack
- The last 484 px, from y 1436: profile, caption, sound and the button.
- Right rail
- x 940–1080, y 538–1460: like, comment, share and profile.
- Top bar and tag
- The top 130 px, with the Sponsored tag at x 36–338, y 0–96.
Where the code, the price and the call to action go
Put the promo code and the price in the middle band, roughly y 900–1300, where CapQA anchors captions at Y=1080 — well above the Shop Now button at y 1436. Say "tap the orange cart" out loud and keep the matching on-screen line in the same band.
Promo code
In the middle band of the frame, roughly y 900–1300. That is where CapQA anchors captions (Y=1080), well above the Shop Now button at y 1436.
Price
The same band, or the upper half of the safe zone. Never below y 1436: the profile row, the caption and the Shop Now button all sit under that line.
Call to action
Say "tap the orange cart" and keep the matching on-screen line in the middle band. If you add an arrow pointing down at the cart, keep the arrow itself above y 1436.
TikTok Shop content rules that affect the frame
TikTok Shop's Seller University asks for readable on-screen text, the product shown from several angles, and dynamic footage — not product-page screenshots, stills or slideshows as the main content. Readable text is where the frame specs come in: a price under the Shop Now button fails the first rule.
Readable, synchronised on-screen text
Sized to read on a phone and timed to what is said. Keep it inside the 900×1400 zone and above y 1436, or the interface covers it.
The product from several angles
Seller University asks to see the product's details from more than one side — which also gives you more than one clean frame to place a price over.
At least 3 seconds of dynamic content
A posted Shop video can't be a still with a voiceover. Movement — hands, the product, your face — has to carry it.
No product-page screenshots or slideshows
Screenshots of the product page, still images and slideshows are ruled out as the main content, and so is static content covering more than half the screen.
The full list, including the rules for LIVEs, is in Seller University's requirements for high-quality videos and LIVEs.
Organic Shop posts and Spark Ads
An organic post with a product link keeps the organic layout — a 350 px action bar, with the product link as an extra row above the username. Boost the post as a Spark Ad and the stack grows to 484 px with the Shop Now button inside it. Boosting doesn't re-edit the file.
Cross-posting the same video to Reels and Shorts
Reels and Shorts draw their interface elsewhere: Reels keeps a 330 px rail at the bottom and buttons from x 996; Shorts keeps 345 px for the title, buttons from x 936 and a subscribe button lower left. A code above y 1436 and left of x 918 clears every layout.
Running it as a paid Reel? Meta asks for the bottom 35% to stay free of text, which puts the line at y 1248.
Export checklist
Before a Shop video goes out: export 1080×1920, keep everything important above y 1436 and out of the right rail, put captions, codes and prices inside 900×1400, keep a clean copy without burned captions, and run it through the free check before posting and again before boosting.
01 Export 9:16 at 1080×1920
Anything else plays smaller, with bars, and moves your text against the interface.
02 Nothing important below y 1436
The bottom stack covers it on every Spark Ad.
03 Nothing right of x 940 between y 538 and y 1460
That is the right rail: like, comment, share and profile.
04 Captions, codes and prices inside 900×1400
One rectangle that clears TikTok, Reels and Shorts at the bottom.
05 A clean version without burned captions
Keep it for re-cuts and whitelisting — on Creator and Agency, CapQA's dual export gives you the burned and the clean file from one job.
06 One pass through the free check
Before you post it, and again before you boost it.
Check it free before you post
The free check draws the Shop Now button, the bottom stack and the right rail over a still from your own video and reports how much of a bottom-third caption they cover — 76% on Spark Ads. It runs in your browser; the file is never uploaded.
TikTok Shop video questions
What size should a TikTok Shop video be?
1080×1920, vertical 9:16. TikTok's ads help lists 540×960 as the minimum for vertical in-feed ads, but every position in this guide — and the free check — assumes a full 1080×1920 frame.
How long can a TikTok Shop video be?
Non-Spark in-feed ads can run up to 10 minutes and 500 MB, per TikTok's ads help; Spark Ads have no length limit. Seller University asks for at least 3 seconds of dynamic content in a posted video.
Where does the Shop Now button sit?
On Spark Ads it spans x 86–966 at y 1436–1566, inside a 484 px bottom stack with the profile, caption and sound. Keep prices and codes above y 1436.
Can I use product-page images in a Shop video?
Not as the main content. Seller University's requirements rule out product-page screenshots, still images and slideshows as primary content, and ask for the product shown from several angles.
Does an organic Shop post have the same safe zone?
No. An organic post keeps the 350 px action bar, with the product link as an extra row above the username. Boost it as a Spark Ad and the stack grows to 484 px.
